Bio

Born in Houston Texas, on March 21, 1966. He moved to Brooklyn, New York during his teens and partnered up with Guru as part of what became the legendary producer-emcee duo Gang Starr. He helped pioneer the "Boom Bap" sound that became synonymous with New York hip hop. He produced the track, "N.Y. State of Mind," for Nas's debut album, "Illmatic," which is critically acclaimed as one the greatest hip hop songs on the greatest hip hop album of all time. Premier's work has spanned across multiple artists such as KRS-One, M.O.P., Royce Da 5'9", Jay-Z, The Notorious B.I.G., Rakim, Mos Def, Christina Aguilera, among many others. He continues to produce for artists old and new, with recent contemporaries such as Joey Bada$$, and Drake.
